I really can’t stay (But baby, it’s cold outside) I’ve got to go away (But baby, it’s cold outside) This evening has been (Been hoping that you’d drop in) So very nice (I’ll hold your hands, they’re just like ice) My mother will start to worry (Beautiful, what’s your hurry?) My father will be pacing the floor (Listen to the fireplace roar) So really I’d better scurry (Beautiful, please don’t hurry) But maybe just a half a drink more (Put some records on while I pour) The neighbors might think (Baby, it’s bad out there) Say, what’s in this drink?
Baby its cold outside! It’s currently 18 degrees outside and in just two days the forecast says it will be 1, as in, 1 degree! And beside sweatpants, there’s nothing more soothing in frigid weather then hot cocoa. So day 3 homemade gift inspiration is hot cocoa, delicious creamy homemade hot cocoa! But not just hot cocoa, hot cocoa with chalkboard mugs. The best part is.. you dont even need to leave your house for this gift!
Here’s what you need;
Glass mugs
In a well-ventilated room, place you mugs upside down on a piece of cardboard or paint proof surface. Spray mugs thoroughly with chalkboard paint, making sure to get an even coat. Allow to dry for at least an hour or overnight before writing on them.
Hot cocoa recipe.
2 cups organic sugar
2 ½ cup powder milk
1 cup unsweetened cocoa
½ teaspoon salt
Pinch cayenne pepper
Combine all of the above ingredients in a medium sized mixing bowl stirring lightly with a wire whisk. Store in an airtight mason jar, tie with a bow and some simple instructions. This cocoa can be stored for up to 1 year.
Now, I know you’re wondering why add the cayenne pepper? Well some say this brings out the flavor of the chocolate, I say, hot cocoa is meant to warm the insides, the subtle amount of cayenne does a lovely job without adding heat.
To make hot cocoa
Heat 1 mug full of water or milk; add in ¼ cup cocoa mix, stir until combined. Top with peppermint schnapps. (Because baby it’s cold outside, remember :))
