Cinnamon Rolls

06/12/2014 by Katie

Cinnamon Rolls.  Cinnamon Rolls. Cinnamon Rolls.

My husband has a bit of a sweet tooth and with his wife having a very savory palate, rarely does he get the chance to eat sweet foods at home. However, with Father’s Day coming up, the kids and I thought we would surprise him and make some soft gooey cinnamon rolls  for breakfast.

These cinnamon rolls are so incredibly tasty and hands-down the easiest and most delicious cinnamon roll recipe you’ll ever taste.  Seriously,, I Promise!   By using a bread machine to do all the mixing and kneading you’ll have extra time to spend with the guest of  honor.
If you don’t have a bread machine, no worries… See note below.

Ingredients
  • Wet ingredients
  • 1⅓ cup milk warm milk
  • 3 tablespoons butter
  • 3 tablespoons honey
  • place in the microwave and warm, about 45 seconds, until the butter is just melted.
  • Dry ingredients
  • 3½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 2¼ teaspoon yeast
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • Sugar filling
  • ½ cup sugar
  • 1 tablespoon cinnamon
  • 2 tablespoons melted butter
Instructions
  1. Combine the wet ingredients into the bottom of the breadmakers bowl. Add the dry ingredients one by one on top of the wet ingredients being careful not to stir or mix.
  2. Turn the breadmaker onto the dough setting. Press start then walk away.
  3. When's the dough is ready, approximately an 1.5 hours later, place the dough onto a floured surface. With a rolling pin, roll the dough into a large rectangle, about the size of a sheet cake pan.
  4. Combine the "sugar filling" by combining the cinnamon and sugar into a small mixing bowl. Using a pastry brush, brush on a hefty layer of melted butter onto the dough. Sprinkle the cinnamon sugar mixture on top of the melted butter.
  5. Working from side to side, (think grade school hamburger length vs hotdog) roll the dough into a thick roll. Pinch the seams closed. Cut the dough into 1 - 1½ inch pieces.
  6. Place the individual cinnamon rolls cut side up into a buttered 9 x 11 baking dish.
  7. Allow the cinnamon rolls to rise until doubled in size. Approx 1 hour.
  8. Bake 350° for 20 to 25 minutes, or until golden brown.

Combined the wet ingredients into a stand mixer. Add the dry ingredients into the stand mixer. Using a dough hook, mix on low speed for one minute.
Increase your speed to medium for 10 minutes.
Turn dough out onto a floured surface and knead for one minute.
Cover with a flour sack or clean towel and let rise for 1.5 hours.
Proceed with steps 4-8 above.
WAIT… WHAT ABOUT THE FROSTING..
Cream Cheese Frosting
1/4 cup cream cheese
1/4 cup softened butter
1 1/2 cup powdered sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
In a stand mixer combine all the frosting ingredients and blend on medium until well combined.  You’ll notice the color whitens as the frosting mixes, this is a good thing.. a delicious thing!
Spend onto the hot rolls right out of the oven or simple top before serving.
* This frosting is excellent with just a spoon as well.. just saying.

WELCOME TO THE FARM

Hi, I’m Katie. Our family lives on our fourth generation family farm here in beautiful Idaho. We milk jersey cows, raise pastured heritage pigs and poultry, scottish highlanders for beef and a few sheep for fiber.  Our journey is about healing the body through sustainable agriculture.  After being diagnosed with a autoimmune disease several years ago, I saw a need to change the way we think about diseases in today’s modern world.

Our farm prides ourselves on selling the best meat and dairy possibly.  We do not use ANY gmo’s, corn or soy in our animal feed.  Our critters graze on fresh green pasture and are fed a locally grown, locally milled grain ration.

We are not offering farm direct pickups or tours at this time.

Our dairy and egg products are available at Pilgrims Market in CDA Idaho.  We do not ship raw dairy.

Grassfed Beef, lamb and pastured pork are available by the half or whole.
