Homemade Wet Wipe Recipe

Homemade Wet Wipes

I’ve been looking around for a easy natural household wet wipe.  I love my Norwex  antibac cloth, but sometimes I just want to reach for a disposable, pre-moistened wipe.

homemade wet wipes | Millhorn Farmstead  After reviewing THIS product I was finally able to come up a basic recipe for wipes.  One where I could easy make up several batches and simply change out the essential oil based on the intended use.

My first endeavor was to make antibacterial wet wipes for the floor and counters.  I also of course wanted one that was safe for the kiddos to use.  Thieves cleaner came first to my mind.  This recipe is so simple.  I’ll never buy disinfectant wipes again. I have a batch made up for the house and some in car for grubby hands on the road!

DISINFECTANT WET WIPES

2 1/4  cups boiled or filtered water, room temperature
2 tablespoons Thieves household cleaner
50 cloth like paper towels

Place water and Thieves cleaner in a glass quart jar and shake shake shake.
Place paper towels into a lidded container. *see note   Pour cleanser over the dry paper towel  and allow to thoroughly soak before use.
Store in a airtight container

The next wipe I needed to make was one to wash my cows udders prior to milking her.  The common way to cleanse the udders is iodine or bleach.  No Thank You!!  Some people use just a plain warm wash cloth, and that would be fine.  However, I wanted a wipe that not only visually cleans the udder but also one that would eliminate any potential bacteria.  And, the last thing a I want to do is slather a bunch of harsh chemicals on gentle parts, especially when these parts produce food for my family, like milk, butter and cheese.  In the Branch Basics user guide  it states baby wash as one of MANY uses for their product..  so why not udders?   Together with a few drops of Thieves essential oil for antiseptic and anti-mold purposes, I have made soft, clean, chemical free udder cleansing wipes.

PREMADE UDDER WIPES

2 1/4  cups boiled or filtered water, room temperature
1/2 cup 1:5 branch-basics all-purpose cleaner Or 2 tablespoons concentrate.
5 drops thieves essential oil
50 cloth like paper towels

Place water, essential Oils and Branch basics  in a glass quart jar and shake shake shake. Place paper towels in a lidded container. (See note)
Pour cleanser over the dry paper towel wipes and allow to thoroughly soak before use.

BABY WIPES

2 1/4  cups boiled or filtered water, room temperature
1/4 cup 1:5 branch-basics all-purpose cleaner Or 1 tablespoons concentrate.
10 drops Lavender essential oil
1 Tablespoon avocado oil  or Jojoba  oil
50 cloth like paper towels

Place water, essential Oils and Branch basics  in a glass quart jar and shake shake shake. Place paper towels in a lidded container. (See note)
Pour cleanser over the dry paper towel wipes and allow to thoroughly soak before use.

A friend of mine has been fighting fly bites in her horses ears.  This is a recipe I came up with to help her not only clean the ears but also as a deterrent for any further fly bites.  Idaho tansy is an excellent pest deterrent.

ANIMAL FLY WIPES (for ears and non-milking udders)

2 1/4  cups boiled or filtered water, room temperature
1/2 cup 1:5 branch-basics all-purpose cleaner Or 2 tablespoons concentrate.
10 drops Idaho Tansy essential oil
50 cloth like paper towels

Place water, essential Oils and Branch basics  in a glass quart jar and shake shake shake. Place paper towels in a lidded container. (See note)
Pour cleanser over the dry paper towel wipes and allow to thoroughly soak before use.

Who doesn’t need a good makeup remover?  And a rejuvenating one at that.  For these wipes I use Carrot seed oil and Frankincense together.  The carrot seed oil improves the complexion of the skin, while also tackling wrinkles, dryness and is also known to improve eyesight.  Frankincense is my above all favorite oil. How can you not love a oil that is referenced 52 times in the Bible?  Not only does Frankincense oil increase activity of leukocytes in defense of the body against infection, but it may also help with aging, scaring, wrinkles and good old fashioned emotional balance.

ANTI-AGING MAKE-UP REMOVER WIPES

2 1/4  cups boiled or filtered water, room temperature
1/4 cup 1:5 branch-basics all-purpose cleaner Or 1 tablespoons concentrate.
10 drops Carrot seed AND Frankincense essential oil
2 tablespoons  Jojoba  oil
50 cloth like paper towels

Place water, essential Oils and Branch basics  in a glass quart jar and shake shake shake. Place paper towels in a lidded container. (See note)

A Glad Ware 10 cup rectangle container fits 50 of these pre-moistened wipes.

*THESE are the BEST cloth-like wipes out there!

WELCOME TO THE FARM

Hi, I’m Katie. Our family lives on our fourth generation family farm here in beautiful Idaho. We milk jersey cows, raise pastured heritage pigs and poultry, scottish highlanders for beef and a few sheep for fiber.  Our journey is about healing the body through sustainable agriculture.  After being diagnosed with a autoimmune disease several years ago, I saw a need to change the way we think about diseases in today’s modern world.

Our farm prides ourselves on selling the best meat and dairy possibly.  We do not use ANY gmo’s, corn or soy in our animal feed.  Our critters graze on fresh green pasture and are fed a locally grown, locally milled grain ration.

We are not offering farm direct pickups or tours at this time.

Our dairy and egg products are available at Pilgrims Market in CDA Idaho.  We do not ship raw dairy.

Grassfed Beef, lamb and pastured pork are available by the half or whole.
